Baseball seems a long way off right now. But the importance of assembling a team for next season seems more important now than in years past.
During the Jim Hendry era, I didn’t pay any attention to the winter workings of baseball. But now, with Theo and his braintrust in place, it seems like things will be different. That’s the hope, anyway.
Pujols is probably gone, or will be soon, but Prince Fielder is still out there, and maybe a 3 or 4 year deal for big money (or a princely sum, you might say) could get done. We’ll have to see how it all plays out. But I’m confident, for a change, that something good will happen soon.
