Rock was born here

Sun

The historian in me appreciates Memphis a great deal. Rock and roll has shaped my life since I was about 11, and to find myself in the place where it was first made is very humbling, indeed.

I can’t return to 1954, of course, but I can shut my eyes and try to imagine it. That’s true of every historical site, really. It’s the most we can do, and so we do it. Time to head inside and start the tour.

    • Totally agree. And I felt like the gift shop here was more deserving of my money than Graceland was. Thanks for reading!
