I watched the Super Bowl yesterday, and was pleased to see it come down to the very last play of the game. And I was even happier that the final play wasn’t a field goal. If anybody could have pulled the game out, it would have been Brady. And I’m sure that Eli Manning is feeling pretty good today, and well he should.
But the thing I’m thinking about today, for some reason, is what proved to be the winning touchdown in the 4th quarter. Has there ever, in the history of the NFL, been a touchdown where the player actually touched down in the end zone with his backside first? It sure looked strange, and considering that it provided the winning margin for the Giants, it could be an enduring image for years, and even decades, to come.
Imagine explaining American football to someone who doesn’t know a Super Bowl from a hole in the ground.
It was a come-from-behind victory on the Giants’ part.
Butt seriously, folks…..
So to end this post (last one, I promise), I will say it was an entertaining game, but I’m glad we can now focus on baseball for the next eight months or so.
