I borrowed the title for this from a Carlos Santana tweet. The full text was “Vision Aspiration Desire with Fire Courage.” It sounds like a recipe for getting things that you want.
As I see it, the meaning of “desire with fire” is to want something so badly that obstacles won’t stop you. And that’s what this high school baseball team was doing today. I slowed down on an admittedly busy street, in order to capture their desire and say a few words about it here. Nobody likes playing catch in a parking lot but there these guys were, throwing the ball around anyway.
Snow had covered their practice field, but their desire won out in the end. I think this team will do just fine this year. By Santana’s measure, they’re already on the path toward great things.
